I chose this necklace for several reasons, chief among them to wear with an existing pair of abalone shell and sterling earrings that I made years ago. Another part of the appeal was the historical origin of the design: I majored in mediaeval history, and the Viking incursions into what is now England and Ireland were a large part of my studies. Finally, it's just a truly exquisite piece of jewellery, and I very much look forward to years of wearing it--especially during the summer.The piece is large enough to be noticed, but small enough that it doesn't shout and overwhelm either outfit or wearer. It is fully marked as .925 sterling silver--essential for those of us who suffer from metal allergies--and it appears to be solidly and skillfully made. It is a lovely addition to the jewellery wardrobe of anyone of any age who appreciates this style. Highly recommend!
