Indigo Designs was born from romance and a love of world cultures and artistic expression. Barry and Sheryl Cowen met in the remote mountains of Guatemala where they were both pursuing their mutual passion for travel. They instantly fell in love. Together they traveled to South East Asia where they explored the immense artistry and creativity of the people of Bali Indonesia and Thailand. They soon founded Indigo Designs out of their small log cabin nestled among the giant redwoods in the coastal mountains of Santa Cruz, California. After that magical start in 1992, they soon began to incorporate their own designs into the collection and their customer base grew rapidly. It wasn’t long before Indigo became a popular boutique brand. Indigo Designs has evolved into an extensive and diverse collection with thousands of active accounts in gift shops, boutiques, and catalogs throughout the United States.
