What is Sterling Silver?
While pure silver can be combined with many different types of metals, Sterling Silver is created when combining pure silver with copper . Sterling Silver jewelry can be composed with different amounts of copper but is most often seen with the .925 stamp, meaning that the composition is of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper. This has been found to be a good combination for maintaining the silver's durability without harming its sparkle.
Caring for Your Heartland Sterling Silver Oval Saint Sebastian Hockey Pendant
Silver, when exposed to the air will always naturally oxidize, i.e. tarnish. To prevent this your Sterling Silver pendant is protected by a clear coat, baked on, lacquer so it is not in direct contact with the air. To ensure the longevity of this protection you should never use silver cleaning products as they will damage coating. You should also make sure your pendant does not come into contact with harsh household chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, or chlorine.
If you notice any dirt build up over time you can simply wash the jewelry in a mild dish soap, dry off (do not use anything abrasive) and then shine up with a microfiber cloth - like the ones you get with eyeglasses.
As with all fine jewelry, it is highly recommended to not wear your jewelry while showering or swimming - harsh chemicals can damage your jewelry.

I ordered the medal for my grandson who is now playing for the HArtford WolfI ordered the medal for my grandson who was signed by the New York Rangers in April and is playing for their farm team the Hartford Wolfpack. My only regret was the medal came on December 27th, through no fault of yours, and Adam was home for only 3 days and had to leave to go back to Hartford on Christmas Day. I just put the medal in the mail for him yesterday so he should have by this Monday. Unfortunately he was injured In that first game December 26th and will be out for 3 to 6 weeks. So I now hope the medal will hurry along his injury.
