Here's a question: Who doesn't love otters? And when they are cradling their otter babies on their tummies--there aren't many things that aren't more precious!So when I saw this necklace, I absolutely fell in love with it. It's a heart-shaped locket, made in 925 sterling silver. The locket opens so that you can place two tiny pictures inside it. The chain is a simple design that measures 18," with a 2" extender chain, and a very small lobster clasp. There's a tiny circle at the top of the locket to connect to the shiny silvery bail, which itself is a lovely match for the locket. The bail holds the locket to the chain.The back of the locket is smooth, shiny silver. And the charming front! In its center, there is a raised design of an otter mama embracing her baby. A border that looks like tiny splashing waves surrounds the locket's front edges, and there are also waves beneath the mama and baby.The necklace comes in a gift box with an attached lid (with a magnetic closure). There's an enclosed note that describes the company values of SOULMEET, the manufacturer. There's also a guitar pick (I think for removing photos when you're ready to update them) and a polishing cloth.I ordered this darling necklace as a gift for--myself! I have absolutely loved wearing it. It is the most precious reminder of not only the beauty of nature but the gift of family and motherhood. This would be a fantastic gift for a new mom, for your own mama on Mother's Day, or--for yourself!

I ordered this locket because it had a mama and baby otter on it and I love otters. It arrived in a nice box with a magnetic top, a polishing cloth and a guitar pick! Just kidding. My first thought was "why is there a guitar pick in the box?" and then I felt silly thinking that when I realized it was a tool to help open the locket. The locket and chain are both sterling silver and have a nice quality feel to them. The necklace clasp works well and feels secure. I like that the end of the chain is made so the clasp can fit through many different links so you can make it the exact length you like. Some reviewers expressed concern about being able to find a photo small enough to fit in the locket, but I have had good luck using thumbnail size prints in other lockets I have, so I am not worried about that at all. I am more concerned with being able to choose what photos I want to put in it. All of that being said, the only reason I gave this locket four stars instead of five is that the image on the actual locket is not nearly as detailed as the photos in the listing look. When you look at the actual locket, it is difficult to tell that the image is that of a mother otter and her baby. The otters' fur on the actual locket is somewhat smooth without the short lines that you see in the photos that give it the "fur" texture". I think if the locket was made just a little bit larger, it might be easier to see the beautiful detail that is portrayed in the photos in the actual locket. The locket's concept is very sweet and the overall quality is great. I will consider this company again if I am in the market for more jewelry.
