This does an outstanding job of steam cleaning fine jewelry, especially diamonds, just like the jewelry store!! As with other reviewers, the tweezers they enclose, are practically worthless - I couldnt not even get them to properly hold a ring. I have not tried the basket but instead have a long handled hemostat type tweezers that I use to hold my rings under the steam. You want to make sure you have something long handled if you don't use the basket as the steam will burn you. The cleaner is easy to fill with the marked cup and doesn't take overly long to reach the proper temp where the green light comes on. I have found that with one head of steam, I can clean one ring before the pressure falls off and you must wait until it builds up again and the green light comes back on. Diamonds are especially wonderful when steam cleaned, more so in my opinion, than any other stone. They look phenomenal! If you care enough about your jewelry to want it looking like it just came straight from the jeweler, then this is a must!

Works well. As with all jewelry cleaners, best used with steam nozzle over a sink edge. This way the wetness goes into the sink area. This reduces any cleanup. I really enjoy this steamer.

Worked great while it was working, now when I plug it in it blows out my GFI, it sparks and is a fire hazard. I won’t be using it again. Think I got a defective unit.

I'm addicted to it I got this to clean my engagement ring because I spoke to the jewelry and he said steam was the best. Omg it gets all of my jewelry so clean and I feel better not using harsh chemicals. A great investment, very portable. Only thing I suggest is buying additional clamp to hold the jewelry while cleaning the tweezers it comes with are not super sturdy

Before this product, I had two Jewel Jet machines which eventually stopped working after one year respectively. I was in the market for another machine and decided on this one. I clean my diamond rings on a DAILY basis and it does the job well. I only use distilled water as recommended by my jeweler. Remember that you can only clean "hard" stones (i.e., diamonds, ruby, sapphire) and not "soft" stones (i.e., pearls). Refer to Moh's Scale of Hardness for your gem classification. This machine is well-built and a lot of PSI (force) to clean/blow away dirt. It has an on/off switch on its cord. However, there's no automatic turn-off so your machine can get very hot and can burn out if you forget. Overall, this machine is solid, much better than Jewel Jet.

I LOVE this jewelry steamer! It makes my engagement ring and wedding band sparkle like it did the day I got it. I tested it on my sister's sapphire ring, and OMG, it sparkles like you wouldn't believe! It took us a few passes to REALLY see a difference, but the difference was night and day.If you have nice jewelry, a jewelry steamer like this is necessary to keep it looking top notch! The tongs that come with it are terrible, though. I had to buy a set of rubber tip tongs. Other than that, it's perfect. Also, it sprays steamy, water over my bathroom counter. They're granite, so I don't really care about that at all. If you're particular about messy steamy water on your counters, you were warned. It takes one minute to wipe it up, so I really don't care.

This is the second unit I purchased. First unit was great and lasted many years. Bought a replacement unit last July. Now it shorts out every plug. Supposed has a 2 year warranty but no way to contact company and get replaced or repaired. Even the number Amazon Customer Service provided isn't valid.UPDATED REVIEW. AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE DID FIND ME THE NUMBER. THEY COMPANY WAS VERY RESPONSIVE AND HELPFUL. JUST NEED TO MAKE IT EASIER TO KNOW WHO TO CALL. THEY ARE REPLACING THE UNIT.

If I had the time and forethought I would/should have taken a photo of all the calcium deposits that came out of the previous Gemoro Black Diamond, etc etc. I use it to remove surface bacteria from implant items that are placed under the oral soft tissues. I have seen great research on this process. I went to use it last week and nothing came out, not a puff of steam. So I opened it and the cap had calcium deposits all around the rim. Then I poured out the TAP water, as we are advised that we are allowed to use it, and what do you think came out. Globs of calcium. Maybe 3 tablespoons full and vinegar did not dislodge the calcium out of the exhaust tube. Now it is in a landfill somewhere.DO NOT USE TAP WATER: ONLY DISTILLED WATER. I should demand my money back for such a suggestion. Do you use tap water in your iron? not likely. Our sterilizers all use distilled. This is the same process of steam production to clean (and sterilize).
