Surfer and substitute teacher here. It's all about the display on this one. The big display setting is my default. Great for checking approximate low/high tides without looking at surfline. No tide forecast past 24 hours but weather changes are more important anyway if you're paddling out.Turn all the sleep monitor and step stuff off. Not super accurate and the app is 2013 level sophistication.More minimal and tough than a Nixon. Looks better too.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I am not a surfer, and will probably never use all the tide patterns and light condition data, but, after trying the iPhone and Samsung smartwatches, I was looking for a shock-resistant phone (I am very clumsy, plus I work out a lot at the gym, and in the garden, and cannot be bothered with a fragile phone) and, most importantly, one that I do not have to take off when getting into the shower. Another important feature I was looking for was an interval timer function that had VIBRATE, rather than sound for interval and tabata workouts...the constant beeping is annoying and distracting. I also wanted a soft rubber wristband, as my skin is sensitive easily irritated by hard wristbands. Last, but not least, since I am middle aged and have less-than-perfect reading vision I was looking for a highly legible screen with a backlit function that would not turn off instantly...voila', this watch complies with all my requirements PLUS it is absolutely great-looking. The interactivity with the watch is limited to a few types of notifications, but not a deal-breaker. It also has a step counter that works quit well and various fitness tracker functions. If I have one complaint, it is the complete lack of information about the distinguishing features between all the watches both on the Casio site and Amazon's that had me pore through hundred of reviews to figure out the essential features and almost caused me to miss this gem. Other than that, I am in love with my new watch.

This watch pretends to be a smartwatch. Ok I have downloaded the app and set it up. I do find it convenient I can synchronize the time with my phone. Otherwise - it’s no Apple Watch, and when I decide I want it, I will get one. What I DO care for,— this watch has fantastic design. It’s really beautifully made. One of its display modes presents time in huge font. I’m 43, my eyesight is not what it was twenty years ago, and I appreciate that.It also can show world time / two time zones at a time, which I find handy. The dark teal color is my favorite. There is no other that they offer, so it’s a lucky coincidence. What else. It has an alarm with vibration function. Also a plus. It’s 200m water resistant- good for swimming and moderate diving.Bunch of other functions I don’t care for, for which I probably paid extra, but it is what it is.I do recommend this watch if you are looking for a beautiful design, high contrast / good legibility and water resistance.

Awesome looks, the quality of the strap is really good. I really like it but it is a bit bigger than the classic DW-5600 so for my 6.5 inch wrist looks a bit big but I wear it anyways since Gshocks are supposed to look tough

The teal is nice and darker than I thought it would be, which is a good surprise. The strap is softer than the usual casio straps but not nearly as flexible as any silicone straps I'm used to. The size is similar to my timex expedition m540. The screen is bright and ledgible in all lighting conditions. The price is definitely justifiable considering it's high quality look and feel while on sale, but retail is too high imo. I wouldn't classify it as a smartwatch by today's standards but if you only want something for a brief notification and some basic but cool set of features, then this is for you.

This is my first G-Shock watch, I really like the color. It's not too big and it has different display modes. It has Bluetooth connection but I haven't used that function yet.

Perfect watch for older eyes. Can be read in almost any light conditions. Huge improvement over previous screens.Cons: it is not a smart watch. It took me a bit of time to get used to the buttons and what they do.App is so so. Could use improvement. Maybe Casio will update it someday. Although I doubt they will. With its shortcomings (no watch is perfect) I do wear this watch more than any other Casio watch that I own.Love the Teal color. Very unique.
