Surgical Steel or Titanium?

Surgical Steel

316L surgical stainless steel is a high-quality and widely-used alloy composed primarily of iron, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. Its remarkable biocompatibility and non-reactive nature with bodily tissues makes it well-suited for medical applications, medical implants and body jewelry. However, because it does contain a small percentage of nickel (10-12%), if you are sensitive to nickel then you will want to look at our titanium jewelry.

Titanium

Grade 23 Titanium (also known as Ti-4V-ELI) is what we use in our titanium body jewelry. It contains 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium, 0.13% oxygen. This grade is what is most commonly used in medical implants and body jewelry. Becaus it has no nickel, it is excellent for people whose skin has reacted to surgical stainless steel piercing jewelry.

Wanted to give it some time before I left a review because the biggest factors in the difference between higher quality & poor quality body jewelery in general, but *especially* tongue rings, is whether or not the color starts to chip/wear off & the threading remains secure. And by the time I found this one, I was almost ready to give up on trying to find myself a new tongue ring online entirely... I was getting increasingly frustrated after a handful of utterly failed attempts to place orders for jewelery at different price points, from US-based sellers that at least seemed reputable, diligently reading hundreds of reviews trying to locate some decent quality jewelry that wouldn't start losing all of its color within a matter of weeks. I mean, it can't be good for my health to be ingesting whatever that cheap coating is.... 🙄 Plus I was having bad luck with bad threading as well. I think I even swallowed the top ball of the last one I ordered before this one when it unscrewed itself in my mouth after less than a week 🤦🏻‍♀️ So needless to say I was aggravated that I had wasted like 75 bucks on one crappy tongue ring after another. The other relevant factor here is that tongue piercings start to close up incredibly quickly once the barbell is taken out, so I was worried about how fast they kept getting worn out or outright breaking. But thankfully, I finally found this one & I'm so glad I gave it a shot. I was somewhat hesitant to order it due to some conflicting reviews & the majority of reviewers using it as a nipple ring. But now I've been wearing it 24/7 for the past 6 months & it looks as gorgeous as it did when I opened the package so I wanted to leave a more detailed review than usual to address all of the info that would've made my life easier when I was on a mission to locate the best tongue ring I could find on Amazon last year.🌟 still looks brand new!🌟 truly looks like a beautiful white opal, not cheap/fake whatsoever🌟 barbell length & size of the balls is perfect🌟 threading is super secure, haven't even had to re-tighten the balls even after daily use for 6 monthsSo that's it, I hope this helps anyone else on a quest for a nice new tongue ring. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best one you can buy for 20 bucks!

Absolutley love these! The opal balls are the perfect size and the color is beautiful! I love the internal threading and the size of the bar and the surgical steel is perfect for my nipples ☺️ Definitely worth the money. I will be purchasing the other colors so I can have a whole collection of these babies!

The bells on these I use for my industrial. It looks like the screws are longer than most, which makes them so much easier to screw into the post. They fit my industrial bar perfectly are beautiful.

To begin with, this jewelry is absolutely stunning. I LOVE opal anything and the pictures on Amazon did this no justice. The opalescent colors and reflectivity are soooo pretty and shiny, I was beyond surprised when I first unpacked the jewelry. And putting the jewelry in was relatively easy - the best way to do it (for nipple piercings in my case) was to guide the bar straight through the path the old bar was in, so the hole was open the entire way through. (Like connecting the old bar to the new bar and slowly moving the new bar in to replace the old one if that helps some people). And I’ve been comfortably wearing these for the past three days until tonight where I experienced the worst pain in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m truly glad I got these as I’ve been striving to get internally threaded jewelry for a while now. But this jewelry has never gone under any type of wear or tear or stress test before. It’s never been put to the test against clumsy people who have no idea how to control their limbs at times nor people who may get drunk and forget that they have jewelry just below the neck. And for this, I have given it four stars. This jewelry looks and feels beautiful. But it is something that is not hearty or able to withstand erratic, impulsive, or even drunken movements of someone just trying to grab a drink yet ultimately snagging something they wished to never snag before. And when that cute little opal ball gets snagged, oh dear lord it’s like you see God and his first cousin twice removed for the first time in your life. The second something is snagged the ball snaps off completely and the whole premise of ‘internally threaded’ is moot as the ball rips off and the threading is left inside the bar. And instead you are left with both bloody nipple and a broken $30 barbell you once loved to wear. One nipple may sleep happy tonight, but the other is left questioning why God decided to punish it so. What path must it have walked down upon to receive this type of punishment that no mere mortal should ever face before? What kind of God would allow someone to have their jewelry be so fragile as to snap off in less than the five seconds it takes to sit up and try to reach forward for a cup of water?(But no, I’m still keeping this and finding both some Neosporin and some superglue to glue back the ball and pray to a new God because I spent good money on this and I ain’t giving up yet 😤)

I wanted to know even if it was a nipple ring could I use it for my tongue, the seller said probably not considering the size, but let me tell you.....it works!!! It’s so beautiful as well I couldn’t even capture in a picture how beautiful the iridescent colors were. I’m so in love with it. The bar isn’t too short either because I usually can’t change mine due to bar lengths and irritation to my tongue, but if you are holding back due to it being a nipple ring, please DONT! Just get it !!!!

I loved this product when it first arrived, and I wore them without changing jewelry for several months until today when i noticed that one of the opal balls had separated from the threaded piece, leaving a tiny and very sharp piece on the end of the bar. After realizing what had happened with this ball, I checked the others and realized that two others were extremely loose and separated from the threading as soon as i tried to twist them. Luckily I had other balls that i could replace the opal ones with, but if i hadn’t noticed or if I didn’t have extras it could’ve been an extremely bad situation. I would not recommend this product whatsoever for daily wear, as they don’t last over time.
