Taper up to the size you need, can't really blow out with these because of the hole for the internal threading. Once you're tapered they work great. No issues with the threads coming loose. Only issue with the style, not the product, is I've had them get caught on my wife's hair and have had to "unhook" myself. But all in all a good set.

I wear 2 Gauge on both ear lobes so very heavy Decent price.. Something different usually go with taper's Switching it up.

I like the style the one thing about it but I don’t like is the screw on is on the wrong side. I feel the screw should be on the ring and not on the spike because when you’re putting on the earring you’re pushing through this big bulky flat surface through your ear other than that 5 out of five stars.

It's hard to find reasonably priced spiked horseshoe bars in larger gauges, so I'm pretty happy with these. I got the 4g size in 12 mm diameter and they fit great, not too heavy either. Spikes are easy to screw on, also nice that the jewelry comes as a pair.
