This JIADUN minimalist style “business” watch has a few nice surprises. At first glance, the black case and charcoal gray dial with applied silver indices and baton-style hands give a simplistic, yet sophisticated vibe. The unusual case shape and the location of the crown at the 4:00 position stands out as something unexpected and special. The indexing is almost spot-on, and since there are no seconds’ markers, you really have to stare at the watch to notice it.An even bigger surprise is that the watch does indeed contain a Japanese quartz movement. I’ve seen a lot of watches in this price range make this claim only to find out that it is a movement made by an independently-operated Chinese company that happens to be a Japanese subsidiary. The movement in this watch however is stamped with “MIYOTA” and “CWMJ” (Citizen Watch Manufacturing, Japan, of which Miyota is a Japanese subsidiary) (see pic). My only reservation is that there is no model number on it; given the configuration and size, I’m assuming it’s a model 2035 “standard”, with an accuracy of +/- 20 seconds per month. This nicer quartz movement allows for the very slim 9 mm case thickness.The clasp on the band has a sliding latch to ensure a perfect fit on wrist, while the other half of the clasp hooks in and then latches securely with a push. I really like this type of clasp and how easy it is to size the band.Given the case size of 38 mm and very short lug-to-lug length of 42 mm, this watch is intended for small to medium wrists. The short overall length makes the band seem a bit short too, so I can imagine this band would not work on a larger wrist. For my medium wrist, the fit was great and the watch sits very nicely and reasonably comfortably.So all this good stuff means there had to be some compromises to get this watch into this price range. While the case has an interesting shape, the finish is a bit rough. The band is even less finished, feels very rough on the sides, and is comprised of folded metal links that jangle pretty badly, although you don’t hear it when the watch is on your wrist. The mineral glass crystal picks up fingerprints very easily and I found myself constantly wiping the glass in order to take good pics for the review.All that being said—this is a pretty good watch compared to most others I’ve seen in this price range. I think if you swap out the band for a nice black leather band, possibly with an alligator pattern, this would really set this watch above its competition.

The watch maintains reliable timekeeping, but occasional adjustments may be necessary. While it lacks some of the premium features found in higher-end watches, its affordability and straightforward design make it a practical choice for those seeking a reliable accessory without breaking the bank. The one downside to this watch is the clasp. The watch comes undone very easily and flies off at very inconvenient moments. It can be difficult to fasten and secure the clasp as well, especially with only one hand to do so. 3 out of 5 stars due to inconvenience of keeping watch secured to wrist and how hard it is to fasten in the first place.

Simplicity is perfect here. This is an analog style watch that doesn't have a dozen buttons and 100 features.It is a perfect dress watch in classic black that does what watches were originally invented to do.It tells the time!I have a few watches that I wear depending on the occasion, and I wear this watch at least a couple of times every week. It is a low-key common dress watch that doesn't draw attention to itself, but it's still an attractive piece of jewelry on my arm.I recommend it if you are looking for a simple but classy looking watch in an analog style that won't break the bank.
