This medal screws apart, like a classic pocket watch would. It could, in theory, unscrew itself over time. In recognition of this possibility, I employed a tiny dab of soft wax in the threads, as a poor man's Loc-Tite (I have not loaded a tiny photograph or a lock of hair or anything else inside it). That was three years(?) ago. I've carried St. Michael on my person in some form or other for more than a decade, to the point where I feel naked without it/him. IDK if the archangel looks out for a lowly mortal such as myself, but, should he ever stop me to inquire about my respect, I hope I can at least "front" like I'm a dues-paying fan. Medal has a nice, comfortable heft to it, so choose your neck chain accordingly.

My partner loves this! Very well made & looks nice. You might need to use a toothpick and hold the eyelet to unscrew the top at first. It feels stuck or will not unscrew but it will come loose. It is small and difficult to get your fingers securely around to unscrew so i recommend a toothpick placed in the holes in front and hold eyelet tight to break loose. Once it is initially broke loose it is much easier to screw on & off after that. He loves the chain that comes with it as well. Someone said in a review that the chain was junk and thats just not true. Maybe the little extension rings are not as strong as the first ring attached to the chain but it is plenty long enough to use the stronger jump ring making it 18”. It comes with a few jump rings attached to that to be able to make the chain longer than 18” if needed

Beautiful necklace, but be very careful with this...the charm broke at the piece attaching it to the necklace and there is no way to fic it...I got great compliment's when i was able to wear it tho.

I purchased this twice because it's a beautiful piece. The first time it broke I just figured let me replace it since it's reasonably priced. The second one broke within an hour of wearing it as well. The way it is constructed makes it impossible to repair as well. Such a shame because I love it but will not waste the money for another.

I liked the length of the chain 20" and the locket is the size of a quarter. It is very visible when worn and looks more expensive than it is. I bought one for myself and gave three as Xmas gifts this year.

The pedant is beautifully made of great quality. It is very easy to unscrew and close. The pads inside holds the perfect amount of oil needed for several anointings. As a minister I recommend this item to have for any unexpected situation that my arise and planned ceremonies.
