My Honest Review about the Timex watch

Unique Watch At An Incredible Price Point!!

Why I Added This Timex Expedition To My Collection!

Every since my son was 4 years old, I've bought him several Timex watches like this one from amazon, for our yearly trip to Disney World. I've spent about $14 for each. The first one claimed to be water resistant but wasn't. He dipped his hand in a pool in Disney World to pick up the pennies in there and that was the end of that watch. The next year, I was careful to make that the watch face says "WR." This time, the watch survived the pool, but the plastic band broke. So the watch still worked but he couldn't wear it anymore. The next year, I was careful to get a watch that said "WR" plus had a woven band so that it can't break. Guess what? The band didn't break, but the part where the band connects to the watch face broke! So this is the fourth time I get a watch (I'm going to Disneyland in 2 months). I decided to get a more expensive watch to see if that will last longer. I just received this Timex Expedition. On first glance, the watch's display is beautiful, meaning high def! The image is much crisper than the other watches. I love that! This watch also shows more information than the others, and even 2 time zones! Furthermore, I got a used one (but like new, says Amazon) for my son (he is 8 now), so it doesn't cost any more than the others! And it does look new!I don't know how long it will last, but it does look better and more promising. I will update this review when it breaks!P.S. All these watches breaking has something to do with the little boy wearing them, of course. I bought a $8 watch from Kmart 4 years ago, wore them all this time to Disney World and it never broke :)

Very nice watch for a senior like me. I can read the time without glasses and the alarm is nice and loud. Fairly easy to set up, I haven't had to read the instructions so far. Two nits I have with it : the month/day is backward to what I'm used to. August 7 (8/7) is displayed as 7/8.so I'll need to get used to that. And the watch band has two loops to retain the loose end.One is adjustable, the other closest to the buckle is sewn into the band.So after you buckle the band you have to bend the band sharply to push it into the loop.I'm thinking I might remove it. So a good looking watch for a good price with big numbers, loud alarm and count down timer10/21 Update - Thanks Thomas for tip on changing DD/MM to MM/DD - (guess I should have read the instructions! )11/26 Update - Sad to say the light went out after 3 months, all other functions still work so I'm thinking the battery is ok.Another reviewer reported the same problem.

Very nice design: 1) intuitive indiglo button - on the front where you want it when groping for it in the dark. 2).the indiglo is not the usual backlight but brilliant blue numbers on a black field - very easy to read. 3) not so thick (some say tall or fat) as the T49949 which is otherwise similar - this one will go under a dress shirt cuff. 4) flat black case is not showy. 5) lugs are 18mm so any sort of strap will do. 6) a reasonably sized watch which is light as a feather. 7) a few easy to use functions - plenty for the ordinary person: stopwatch, timer, alarms, and it keeps very accurate time - imagine that. 8) N.B. the "glass" is acrylic - it will scratch but can easily be polished out - far more practical than mineral which is harder to scratch but impossible to polish once the inevitable scratch happens..I think Timex is smart on this cf. Casio.A modest suggestion: the buttons are all a pale grey color. Black would have been more consistent and attractive. Why make the large front indiglo button grey since it's only needed when it's dark?

I don't believe in spending hundreds of dollars for a watch that needs charging daily or distracts me with email or text notifications, so I didn't want any kind of smart watch. Just wanted a watch that tells time, has some alarms, works even if it gets wet, is comfortable, isn't too ugly, doesn't weigh a ton, and is smaller than a truck wheel. So far, this watch hits almost all these points: Accurate enough, looks okay, decent size and weight, and has three alarms (that is what sold me on this model). My only complaint is the band: It is either a bit too loose or too tight. The are plenty of replacement bands on the market; only problem is determining the correct width to use with this model, as Timex doesn't list it, and the folks answering this question on Amazon have more than one answer.Still, overall, it's nice to find a basic, durable, cost-effective watch that should last a long time.

Great watch for the money.

I mainly use this watch for work where we rely on having accurate time. I have been wearing this watch now for 2 weeks. What I like about the watch:1: Watch face is large enough to be able to clearly read the time, date and day of the week.2. Watch face is not so big that it is uncomfortable (roughly 1 5/8 inch wide by 1 3/4 long)3. The combination nylon/leather strap is thin and flexible (but durable). The thickness is about 3/4 of an inch making it very comfortable to wear.4. Indiglo feature is bright in the dark and very easy to find the button as it is on the face of the watch as opposed the side of the watch.5. Setting are easy to navigate and easy to set time and date6. Includes chronograph, timer and you can assign 3 different alarms.7. Has the hour chime ( which you can disable).8. You can set it to a 24 hour clock. What I did not like:1. The watch did not come with instructions on how to set the watch up and to navigate it. But as i stated earlier it is super easy to figure out. (to set your time just press and hold the set button while you are in time mode, hit the mode button, hit start/split button to adjust time, hit set to set the time)2. Sometimes i have a difficult time getting the watch on and off, but i think that will get easier as the watch band breaks in.In conclusion I would not hesitate to buy this watch. Again, it is super comfortable, light weight, easy to read and has been very durable so for. And at this price point how could you go wrong?
