Bastet: Sacred cat of ancient Egypt

Bastet, the cat-headed goddess of Bubastis is linked to the sun-god Ra, and is associated with the life-preserving power of the sun. Cat amulets were commonly worn on necklaces during the 22nd and 23rd dynasties to invoke the blessing of Bastet. Our cat is a reproduction of a faience amulet.

I’m thinking of returning if I can’t get the knot out of the chain - it came that way . The pendant itself is not a solid cylinder but hollow on the back side so there isn’t a lot of weight to it . I love cats and am thinking do I really want to wear a cat mummy around my neck ? It came nicely packaged - but I think it’s price is over inflated
