The earrings themselves are substantially weighty, a dark smoky grey in plastic or glass, definitely matches the official pictures. From the back, it is clear that the frame is made of plastic that was molded to look like metal, and the imitation is pretty decent! The best I've EVER seen in a jewelry box from Amazon for this price point!If you have a lady in your life who vibes with large and chunky earrings plus the general aesthetic of smoky grey, these earrings, plus the presentation of the box, will definitely stun and amaze! This is a once-a-year sort of gift, in my opinion, while not being too pricey. So I'd say the appropriate recipient would be... a cousin for a high-school or college graduation, a college mentor, a going-away gift to a co-worker you really liked but not enough to keep in future contact with.For someone you will see more than once a year after the giving of the gift, I'd recommend spending a bit more on a more personal set. Suss out their color and shape preferences by going window-shopping together to look at jewelry in a thrift store or online, something like that.For wearing yourself, be aware that these ARE pretty heavy, and if you have tearing of the lobes already, these could well make it worse. For someone unaccustomed to heavy earrings, the max wear time is going to be around 1 or 2 hours, I believe. A quick head-shake gives off an almost dog-leash sort of clatter that only the wearer will hear, that will be awfully distracting if you will be moving your head a lot, like at a concert or dancing or suchlike.

earrings are fun looking. size is larger than thought they would be. not overly heavy on your ears, but might become over a long time of wearing. jewels look pretty, the color black is pretty and fun. just wish stones were lots smaller.

They, in all their gaudy glory, enter the room before the wearer, because nobody looks you in the eye while wearing these. They want to be fabulous but have settled instead for budget RHOBH.Sturdy, packaged beautifully, but just know these are louder than you.

The design is very interesting and the stones sparkle when hit by the light. Although these are costume jewelry pieces, they seem well made & the dark silver setting adds a nice touch.I like them because they are striking & pretty but I think the size & design makes them more a dressier event or evening wear item. They are large but were comfortable to wear. The post backing is good for this size piece because its the type with a plastic circle attached to the attachment. This always helps to keep larger earrings in place and hanging as they should.They, indeed, make a very pretty 'statement'.
