These are pretty earrings, but they are very small. There are so many reviews stating that either the earrings or the gemstones are smaller than expected (and a couple stating the opposite) so I wanted to add my own two cents:Each earring is only 3/4" in total length and the prong setting and lever-back mechanism is made of a very, very fine gauge of metal -- gold-plating over brass according to the product specifications (for the brass, with no metal stamp) and the product description (for the gold plating). The lever-backs are so thin and light that they look more like wire and can easily be compared to the spear of a medium-sized safety pin. They work well enough, IMO. The earrings I received have amethysts with quite a dark purple color. The gemstone does indeed measure 6mm just as stated in the product description, so for round-cut gemstones, the pair of them have a total carat weight of just over 1.5. The gemstones seem securely anchored in the settingsThere is no mention of these being imitation, synthetic or natural gemstones, so I am presuming they are lab-created (synthetic--made of the same material as a natural stone) and not imitation (simulated or faux stones that are made of a different material and just look like a natural stone). At the same time, all of this probably doesn't really matter all that much at this price point. I just happened across these when I was looking for a pair of earrings for everyday wear, and the price was so good, I figured they would be worth it. They are; I'm happy with them and I think they would be fine for teens and tweens, too (maybe not ideal for younger kids, though). I gave the earrings four stars because I think the gemstone and prong setting are nice but the lever-back closure could be a bit more robust.

These earrings are very nice, especially for the price. There were two pairs of earrings I was considering. I bought these first as they were less expensive. My thinking was that if they were of low quality, I would then order the second more expensive pair. However, I was so pleased with the first pair that I deleted the second pair I was considering from my wish list. Good job!

I bought these to wear with a bridesmaids dress. They are well made, very pretty and comfortable to wear. I don't wear much gold so I probably won't wear them again, so for the price it was perfect for my requirements... cheap and pretty!
