I have earrings, ring and pendant that are genuine black oval; it's an amazing natural phenomenon (I think it's my favorite, even over diamonds). It's harder to come by and price keeps rising. It's understandable that there's a market for something less costly but similar. THESE earrings, as stated, are created (not mistakable for real black opal; for one thing these don't have the range of colors and they appear like tiny reflecting confetti bits) but these ARE chameleon-like, changing colors as one moves and as light hits them and that fascinates like black opal for sure! The settings here are marked 925 Silver and have that polish and appealing shine. I got these to go with the "matching" ring. I deducted a star because the "stones" ARE quite small and mine appear to only have two colors - green and orange (unlike the ring which includes a sort of red-orange and yellow as well for a total of 4 colors). Still are pretty, unique in their own way and I am big on coordinating my jewelry, so no thought of returning them.
