I purchased this as a gift for my son's college graduation. He has always wanted a pocket watch and since he likes a more traditional style I thought this one would be perfect. It is beautiful and it has a nice weight to it. It seems to be a quality watch. The case is very nice, the hinge is sturdy and the face and the numerals make it a classy addition to any outfit. It is so nice to see a young man checking his timepiece rather the his phone for a change!

This is a very beautiful pocket watch; the pictures do not adequately capture its beauty. It's well-crafted and has a sturdy feel to it. It's not too small or too large. The watchface has a swirling sunray-style pattern radiating from its center (reminiscent of the Japanese flag). This is an hierloom quality timepiece that I expect to pass on to my son or grandson.

This is a very attractive watch with a very good looking face and shell. But, even though I tried to carefully follow the warning not to close the case without pushing the button slightly, the lock mechanism lasted only a few days. Since I couldn't close the case, I chose to remove the front and leave the face exposed. This won't be a good solution with just a plastic lens. We'll see how long this works. In short the case and lock mechanism are tinny and cheaply made, though pretty.

I've wanted a pocket watch for a good while just for the heck of it. My father carried one all his life. I didn't want to spend a bucket load to have a nice watch so I chose this one. Cosmetically the watch is beautiful, excellent detail and it's jeweled inside the lid. The chain is sturdy enough for a pocket watch chain. I've had it for 48 hours now and so far the time has been dead on accurate with my computer and phone so no complaints there. The lid has a very nice spring open with a crisp closure latch and push button latch is easy to operate. The only drawback is the watch is not shock or water resistant. So don't have this watch in your pocket if you are ever caught in the rain. Country of manufacture is not listed on the watch or paper work but I strongly suspect the Big C, but then what can you buy today that isn't made in China? Hence the 4 stars. If the watch continues to keep accurate time I will we well pleased for the money spent for this watch. Yes I would recommend if you do not require a watch to be shock and water resistant.

I am a pocket watch enthusiast and I found this one to be a classy well made item. It has the looks and the heavy feel of a fine watch. The gold plating is outstanding enough to give the appearance of a gold watch worth 10 times what I paid for it. I liked it so much that I bought a second one to carry; the first one is in my watch display cabinet.

In my previous review of this item I stated "item never delivered" I was wrong. The item was delivered to the superintendent of my building. I was never informed. The watch is very nice.
