It took me a couple of days to figure out all the settings and get the watch to hook into the atomic clock in Fort Collins, CO, but now that I understand how to access all of the features, I am very pleased with the watch. I enjoy collecting watches, ranging from Casio and Citizen, to Breitling and Rolex watches. The features and build quality of this Casio PRW-2500R-1CR Pro Trek are excellent and I am sure that this will be one of the main watches that I wear on a daily basis. It is very comfortable to wear, it is a good size and it has great features that are easily accessed with the dedicated function buttons.7-11-18 update: I've had this watch for 2 years now and it is the main watch that I use every day. I appreciate the many functions that the watch offers. The watch is always right on time because of its connection to the atomic clock, the battery is always fully charged because of the solar panel, I use the stopwatch, moon phase, tide status, and other features all the time. It continues to be a great, functional watch.

My wife ordered this watch for me because as a marine biologist it depicts data that I need to know pretty much on a daily basis. I am 6'3" and built and this watch is huge on me, its fairly impossible to not accidentally snag it rounding a corner or doing day to day tasks. Even when being mindful of its presence I still manage to ding it into things now and then. The barometric pressure is always dead on with local forecasts for my area, the compass appears to only be correct when the watch is held level with the screen towards the sky, the temperature is accurate (when removed from wrist and allowed to acclimate to the ambient temperature). The altimeter is based off of the barometric pressure so say a storm is brewing and the pressure is dropping, you have gone from 5 meters above sea level to -50 meters below sea level, I am not sure how one would go about getting around this problem as even if you re-calibrated your altitude each day it would still deviate with rises or falls in pressure. That is the only down side I can think of with this watch, it sure beats hoping to have signal to monitor all of these variables while in the field collecting samples. It is good that it is solar powered as this many features would drain normal batteries as fast as you could put them in I would think.

Great CASIO PROTREK WATCH. I got this in the mail today from Amazon. I opened up the box tried it on and was very impressed very compfortable. I have 4 Protreks, The prg270-1 .The pag240-1cr, The prw 3500-1 Atomic Solar 200meters water resistant. I love the way this watch display looks. This watch is water resistant 200meters. Atomic Solar Powered. I paid $180.00 . You won't find a better watch for this price range with the comfortable band it's a watch you can wear all day and night. The watch is big but to big. I have a 7 inch wrist size and it fits great. I've been wearing gshocks for 33years since 1983 when the first one came out. I have 30 Gshocks and 4 Protreks. I have the Rangeman gshock which I think is a great watch. This is a great watch for hiking, fishing, Scuba diving or Casual wear. Take it from a Casio gshock and protrek Collector. I give it 5 stars on looks and compfort.and the durability .

I have to say that I absolutely love this watch and it is the most expensive watch that I've ever owned!Let me get into what I like..OK love about this watch. The watch is what I need. It does tide information once it is set up. The watch also does barometric pressure and gives you a graph on what is going on with the pressure. Moon phases are displayed very well with the watch.Compass function works very well. It will not be as accurate as a stand alone compass but you can calibrate the one in the watch and even set the magnetic declination so the accuracy gets better. The barometer can be calibrated as well. When the watch is in barometer mode, it will also get the temperature as well. The temperature is more accurate if the watch is removed from the wrist and allowed to stabilize with the surrounding air for a few minutes. Otherwise the temperature will be warmer than the air temperature because of where the sensor sits near the arm.I haven't had the chance to check the altimeter on the watch but it measures altitude via barometric pressure somewhat similar to what a plane's altimeter does. Both need to be calibrated to the current altitude on which they are starting out and the barometric pressure so both instruments can then use the difference in atmospheric pressure to tell you your elevation.I do know on this watch that the altimeter does use barometric pressure because I can calibrate my altimeter to the current conditions and if the pressure changes, so does my altitude. Something to keep in mind. The watch uses a solar panel inside the face of the watch to keep the watch charged which is a very nice feature. There is a display on the watch letting you know of the battery status. So you will know how much charge the battery has in it.It also has a power save mode that can conserve battery. When this mode kicks in, the watch will look like the battery is dead but in fact, the watch has just shut off the display. Pretty cool I think. The water resistance of this watch is 200m. Which for my use is plenty! Now the atomic time part. I have tried several times unsuccessfully to synch the watch to the atomic time clock where I'm at. I live on the east coast of North Carolina and I've tried in several places around my town and the next few from me and I still get a error when I try and get the watch to synch. The watch like all other watches can be set manually but I was kind of hoping to get this to work.Other than I can't get the watch to synchronize with the atomic time clock, I love the watch and it's features. It may not be for everyone but for me, it will do very nicely!

Love this watch. As big and bulky (& useful) as it is it’s so light, comfortable & reliable you can’t go wrong.Having it for three years and it’s still going strong the directional bezel does get beat up and can’t spin anymore. I have had it under mud getting stuck while off-road and in the ocean I think small particles may of gotten underneath but everything still works great.
