I ordered two of these from Amazon, and received them within 3 days (Prime). One was non-functional and Amazon issued a full refund as soon as I shipped it back, at Amazon cost (superb service from Amazon!). The second sample was fully functional (I downloaded English instructions). The main challenge with this watch (as with all atomic watches) is in syncing with the NIST atomic clock. We had a clear sunny day here in SE Michigan a couple of days ago so I drove to a large open parking area at nearby Costco where there were no buildings nearby and no other cars parked. I moved about 15 feet away from my car and performed a manual sync per the instructions. I pointed 12 o'clock SW towards Colorado (per the instructions) and watch showed Y for sync on the second attempt - took about 3-4 minutes to sync. Time was synced right to the second per the NIST clock on my iPhone. I figure I may need to do that once a month or so to keep it in synced within 15 secs per month.Given that it syncs, I think this is a great watch and an amazing value.Pros1. Attractive styling - understated, casual elegance.2. Very comfortable to wear, and lightweight (46 grams).3. Automatically charging battery (via light thru' the watch face) is a big plus. Battery should be good for 10+ years).4. Perpetual calendar5. Easy-to-set world time (easy to change from home city).Cons1. The strap is a little longer than I like, but I can live with thatOverall I highly recommend this watch for exceptional features and value. There is a bit of a learning curve, but not that difficult. I like the fact that (provided it keeps working) it's basically a set-and-forget watch for the next 10 years - except for occasional finicky syncing, that requires some patience. Significantly less costly than comparable offerings from Citizen, Seiko, etc.

I really like this watch! I love all of the features it boasts while maintaining a completely analog display. I love its style and the fact that it is atomic setting. This would be my number one everyday watch if it were not for one very critical flaw. The watch band. The band itself is that uncomfortable, however resin watch bands tend to leave my wrists sore and irritated. So I thought I would just change the band to a different one. What I found out however is that the watchband is completely proprietary to this model of watch. The only replacement I could find is the same resin band I was trying to get rid of. I tried to see if anyone made a watch band adapter kit for this watch but my search turned up nothing. In my research, I found that their is another version of this watch that comes stock with a metal watch band. I may have keep my eye out for that model. All in all, I had to return this watch, mainly due to the discomfort the watch band caused me.

My last casual watch was a g-shock wave ceptor, which I bought for around $300. Now it was a cool and useful watch, but I often got comments about how big and bulky it looked, and often missed having a timer feature. After about five years I decided I needed a new one, did a bit of research, and landed upon this watch. I've had it for a little over a month now and am so far very satisfied with my experience.Pros:* Has all the timekeeping features you could ask for in a watch: timer, chronograph, 24hr time, second (top right set of hands) time zone, alarm, automatic DST, and of course automatic time synchronization.* Water resistant up to 100 meters. I wouldn't try diving with it, but I've gone swimming while wearing this watch and haven't experience any issues.* Stylish. I love the look of this watch. I feel fine wearing it casually and also to semi-formal occasions. and coming from a big bulky g-shock, I barely feel this thing on my wrist it's so light.* Solar powered. My last solar powered watch never ran out of battery in its five years, and I don't expect this one too either.Cons:* Only comes with a Japanese manual, but like the other user said, you can easily find the English version online.* Impossible to switch out band. I'm fine with the resin band that it's included with, but when I tried switching it out for a leather band I could not for the life of me figure out how to take the resin one off. If you really can't stand having a resin band, then this watch isn't for you. It's worth noting that the glass seems like it may be easy to scratch. I was afraid I had scratched it at one point early on, but I was able to rub it off pretty easily. Otherwise this is a great casual watch, and can definitely pass as a formal watch in some, if not most cases.

I had this for two years and it never worked correctly. It always lost the time signal and would regularly lose the time. After two years it stopped pointing at the correct locations for settings. Then one day I dropped it on the ground it shattered. Gravity solved the problems permanently. Disappointed for the price I payed, now its remnants reside at the city landfill. Never buy Casio again.

I am moving toward solar watches because I am tired of replacing the battery every year. I have purchased both a regular Citizen and Seiko and have had no problems whatsoever. When I received this watch, i realized it did a lot more than keep hour and minute. It also keeps city, daylight savings, timer, and world clock time. Be prepared to spend time researching how to set this up as it did not auto sync with my area. You will have to find directions in English and go through a 10 page (letter size) manual to learn the setup process. This is the most complicated watch I have ever owned. (I still haven't set the day of the week correctly). It looks great, but I would hesitate before giving this as a gift.
