I purchased 5 of these to help in my piercing studio. Their description says they are safe to put into the autoclave for sterilization. I tested them out before cleaning and sterilizing them and they worked great. However, as soon as I sent them through the autoclave, the inserts shrank away from the metal. The 3mm ball end barely fits over a 2mm ball now, and when trying to get the ball seated into the silicone, the whole silicone piece retracts back up into the metal tube. Wasted money!!! DO NOT BUY THESE IF YOU CARE ABOUT MAKING CERTAIN THEY ARE CLEAN AND STERILIZED FOR YOUR CLEINTS. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

This is absolutely PERFECT for reinserting balls on my rook and conch piercings!! I've come to the conclusion the negative reviews are all from people who don't know the correct diameter of their piercing balls and bought the wrong size tool. There is such little margin for error if you know which way a screw turns and you order the correct size tool.The ball literally cannot go up inside the tool and get stuck (which is one concern I had) nor is the material inside made of hard plastic - it's squishy. The piercing balls do fit snug as they are supposed to, so they don't fall out.The only way I could see the tool giving someone trouble (given they have the correct size) is if they have externally threaded jewelry, and the side of the ball that is internally threaded got flipped around somehow in the tool - in that case buy higher quality jewelry, that's not the tools fault. Externally threaded balls literally CANNOT get stuck or flipped around inside of the tool.I waited so long to purchase this tool because I feared it was going to be cheap garbage and not work at all because of the reviews - but that's not the case at all. It's not even made in China! So much time I could've saved, so much sooner than now 🥲

So this does work as intended. It helped me screw in my 3mm ball end onto my rook piercing easily. Which is great cause it's a super awkward place to try to screw on a tiny ball end. The issue is that it hold TOO tightly. I could not get it to let go of the ball without putting a really painful amount of force on my piercing. It helped to slightly lube it up with some anti bacterial ointment I had handy. It does work, just be careful.
