Orient may not be one of the first brands that come to mind when you think of quality watches, but they really should be. To be fair, they are a sub-brand of Seiko with the distinction that all of Orient's movements are made in Japan...they may not be any better than Seiko's Malaysia-made movements in their automatic watches, but as someone who appreciates the legacy of Japanese watches, it's a nice touch.Anyway, onto the watch. This watch is absolutely beautiful. The large cutout on the face shows the beauty of the watch's precise movement, the constant flutter of the balance wheel and the ratcheting progress of the escapement gear are stunning things to observe. All the movement's gears, wheels and jewels are sleek and finely tooled.The watch's size is also nice. Men's watches tend to be gargantuan for some reason, and while this isn't the smallest watch by a long shot, I think it strikes a nice balance between being an attractive timepiece that people will notice without being uncomfortable to wear for everyday use.All in all, this watch looks a lot more expensive than the price you pay for it. I got it for about $117 and it could easily pass as a $300+ watch under scrutiny.
