I got these to store/display small (less than one inch) meteorite specimens and they work great. The lids are easy to remove but remain securely in place, despite having something inside the box. Foam inserts have a layer of fabric or something glued to one side, can be flipped over if you want just the foam, or the foam inserts can be removed completely since they're not glued to the insides of the boxes. Very happy with these.

They would be fine if you could open them, impossible. I even tried a screw driver and couldn't open them!

These are perfect for the gems I collect, they have a little cut out for access and lifting the top, the containers hold together nicely without fear of the top popping off and loosing the gem if you grab it by the top section. This also comes with a nice piece of foam to secure the gem or stone in place as to not slide or bounce around inside the container.

Placed graduation pin in box. Affixed paper label to the back with the student's name.Looked very regal, box enhanced the look of the pin. Box will be a keepsake.
