Rosa Tomatis
Rosa Tomatis was born in Lima in 1948. She studied in a number of art workshops that were especially valuable for the function of design. Her artistic formation was achieved in the Universidad Católica, while her paintings are inclined toward the surreal and playful abstraction. When I was very young, my family saw my natural instinct for drawing, so they found an art teacher for me. Thus I followed this path, and I found it more and more beautiful," Tomatis says. "When I was a little girl, I loved to hear stories. But I always asked that they be in color. When they had a sad ending, I'd insist it be changed to a happy one. That was many years ago. But when I hear a sad tale, I still want to change it to have a happy ending.

Her artistic formation was achieved in the Universidad Católica, while her paintings are inclined toward the surreal and playful abstraction. When I was very young, my family saw my natural instinct for drawing, so they found an art teacher for me. Thus I followed this path, and I found it more and more beautiful, Tomatis says. When I was a little girl, I loved to hear stories. But I always asked that they be in color. When they had a sad ending, I'd insist it be changed to a happy one. That was many years ago. But when I hear a sad tale, I still want to change it to have a happy ending. I'm a painter but as a girl I learned all about leather, as my father worked with tanners. My brother Rodolfo Tomatis is also a Novica featured artisan [with leather handbags]. I design and work with leather, and I also craft jewelry. With both, I select the very best materials. I love to mix natural elements with silver. Sometimes I give it a rustic finish; other times I like a shiny surface. I feel a need to express something, and this is what motivates me to paint.

Just a gorgeous bracelet. My husband won't stop wearing it since I gave it to him! Which makes me quite happy that he loves it. It's absolutely perfect craftsmanship and quality. I love the hook clasp. I measured my husband's wrist with a soft measuring tape and the size fits perfect! I'm so glad it was made in an 8.75". Sadly, it did not come in a pouch with the story pamphlet. NOVICA emailed me to ask if I was happy with the purchase, which I was. I emailed them back and told them it was missing the pouch and story line, but loved the bracelet. They apologized and proceeded to mail me the missing items. I received them today! Very impressed with service, even though slightly disappointed at first by the missing items. The bracelet arrived in a padded envelope inside another bag with an anti-tarnish tab. I am greatly impressed by the bracelet and overall happy with the service. Highly recommended!

This is truly as "handmade artisan" jewelry as I've ever had, and it's brilliantly and beautifully well made. It looks as though it will last for many years of daily wear. The leather is very soft & rich. It's very comfortable and fits a larger wrist (many thanks for that) as well as being easy to "break in" quickly with normal wear. (It's exactly as pictured in color & tone and has a well made hook and ring closure). This would also make a great gift for a man with 8.5" or 8.75" wrist.Thank you for your amazing work and for sharing it with us.

I bought this bracelet for a silver wedding anniversary gift. The bracelet is a beautiful piece of art and well made. I was a bit disappointed that it did not come with the pouch as advertised. Since it was a gift I was hoping that the pouch would give it an extra sense of worth. Instead, it came in a plastic bag which made it look cheap. The four stars is because I like the product but the pouch would have won over the extra star.

Everything about this bracelet cries out quality I bought this as a gift for myself and could not be mor satisfied . Unfortunately I did not recieve the pouch and story card but called the number they sent me and spoke to a nice young lady who told me I will recieve it .. I hope so ! The bracelet was an Anniversary gift for husband. The bracelet is absolutely beautiful, and of the highest quality. I had to contact Amazon as the gift pouch and Artisan card were not included, however, this was handled professionally and expeditiously, and both were received in a timely manner.
