UPDATE: The seller responded to my message mentioned below and they sent me a new pin. The second pin came in a much better packaging and was completely free of rust! Thank you SO very much for helping me with this!I was excited when I found this pin as I had just completed my very first crochet project, a heavier duty shawl, and needed something to keep it from slipping off my shoulders. I found this and immediately fell in love as it was simple yet complex, and more unique than anything else I had been able to find anywhere else. I was ecstatic when I came home from work and found that the package had been delivered.Upon opening the package though, immediately I was tipped off that something was wrong, the inside of the bag had all this brownish powder in it. I peeled the sides of the bag away from the product more and found a small baggie with the pin in it, this smaller baggie also filled with this brown powder. I recognized it as rust right away and my heart sank to the ground. This unique, complex, and absolutely gorgeous pin that I was so excited to show off was now virtually unwearable!I did take the pin out of the smaller baggie, hoping that maybe I could just simply brush off some of the powder and it would be fine, but I soon realized that the packaging was completely lined in rust for a reason, the pin was too far gone. I would have to scrub this pin with steel wool and seal it somehow if I wanted to be comfortable wearing this.I am heart-broken that my pin came this way and I even tried to convince myself that I somehow misread the listing in my haste to have such a beautiful pin. I looked back at the pictures and the description, but nowhere can I find that there is any mention of rust! I have contacted the seller and I am still waiting on a response from them. I would like to get this resolved because I do believe in second chances and none of the reviews I have looked at so far have mentioned anything about their pins also coming rusty, but please use this as a warning!TLDR; My pin came rusty!

In terms of price, you get what you pay for; not cheap plated aluminum, but not hand forged either. It’s only patterned on one side, but it’ll last me a long time due to its durability and craftsmanship.

I use this pennanular brooch to fasten shawls, scarves, and cloaks, and it’s excellent. Construction is very sturdy (I can be hard on wearables) and the mechanism for fastening works great (first pennanular brooch, so there was a learning curve, but that’s a me-problem not a product-problem). I wasn’t sure about the decorative leaf, but it looks neat and adds a bit of flair to the whole effect. I don’t anticipate needing to buy another one (see re: sturdy), but if I lost it, I would definitely buy again.

This is a beautiful piece. It came much faster them expected infact I am still waiting on my 3 other prime items. It was well oiled when i first opened the bag but with a quick paper towel buff out she was good to go. Please don't wash the replica the oil will help protect it from rusting. The pin slides nicely and the sizing is perfect. I am beyond happy with this piece and would love to get more of their work in the future. In my opinion, you won't regret your purchase!

It isn’t Damascus steel metal. Product is poor. I tried polishing it, but still crap. Crude. Don’t buy.

It's pretty and should I put some effort into it, I could get it to look aged like the item picture; however, it came so rusty that it left the pattern of the fibula in the plastic bag it was shipped with. Nothing some WD-40 or vinegar can't handle but for the slightly higher price of the item, I'd expect to not have to worry about rust staining my expensive costumes- iron or no. Be wary.Update: Communication was quick and easy with the seller though the person I talked to seemed dismissive of my concerns. Since a replacement wouldn't arrive in time for my event, I was given a partial refund.
