This is a lovely piece and given the price of precious metals today, this costume jewelry ring is a nice alternative to an expensive accessory. In person, the tiny rhinestones don't stand out as much as they do on the website picture, which was apparently very well magnified. Despite that minor detail, the ring is still cute and its size is as described. Instead of a finger ring, I believe that it would have been even nicer as a brooch, cuff links, or a charm. Maybe it was intended to be a scarf ring, which is another possible application if it had a pin to keep it anchored to a silk or nylon scarf. The ring band is collapsible because, instead of being soldered, it's composed of bronze colored bone-like links that are threaded together with what I believe might be jewelry string - it looks like dental floss. I bought the ring on sale for $8.00 (& free shipping) so I'm not going to complain about the thread. I simply mention it to give the buyer a better description. The size of the band seems to be larger than an eight; it fits over a 3/4" dowel nicely. At 1 1/2" I think he's too big for a finger ring, but others may disagree.Personally, I don't wear jewelry, but when I accidentally saw this little owl (and its scowling larger cousin) on line, I fell in love with it, mostly with the fine, careful detail. At the time, I was looking for an Angry Bird toy ring for my grandnephew and was pleased with the Alilang scowling owl that appeared. I clicked on additional links until I found this cute little guy. When the ring arrived, I studied it under good lighting and found that the dark eyes don't sparkle and the bronze metal stands out more than the little clear (whitish) and topaz rhinestones. Under dim light, the light stones do stand out and enhance the brown eyes so if you end up in a dimly lit restaurant or club, your friends will definitely notice this little guy. I now have him propped up on a dowel, where I can enjoy his cute face whenever I like.It shipped directly from the manufacturer's store in California and arrived quickly in New York in a nice blue gift box.
