I collect watches of all sorts, (mechanical, automatics, and quartz movements) mostly newer models. I had heard and read a lot about Vostok watches. Most people seemed to like them indicating they were good value for money. The Vostok models were apparently originally created for use by the former Soviet Union's armed forces therefore being tough and dependable. There are many models, with the Amphibia and Komandirskie models being the most popular. I chose the Amphibia model which is a mechanical automatic drive. The cases seemed to be chrome plated brass. The Amphibia model is thier diver watch which is good to 200 meters. All the Vostok's have a unique sealing method for the back case cover which increase sealing against water and lessens the chance of damaging the rubber O-ring. They also have acrylic crystals which they have designed to tighten the seal even more the deeper you dive and the more pressure you encounter. All the models I believe have this odd crown design. The crown is a screw down type, which helps for sealing against water incursion, but when you screw them all the way out the crown sort of flops around. Apparently, this is a design feature to protect the crown and stem from damage in case there is a blow to the crown. Also, there is no quick set date if you get a model with the date window which could be an issue for some. I purchased mine for around $100, but you can find them cheaper, especially the Komandirskie models. I love my copy of this watch which has a plain black dial with gold-colored applied indices in shape of rectangles for the hours. It looks very classy, I think. I am very happy with my purchase.

This watch is wonderful value for money. I have been wearing it for the previous 2 weeks and have had no issues. When I first got the watch I was worried about the sound the rotor made compared to other watches but he watch is still fully functional and working. I have swam and showed in this watch and all the seals are solid. My watch tends to lose time so every 3 days or so I manually adjust the watch back to a close time. The nato band on this watch is a little long for my small wrist so I tuck the end back under itself to stop it from waving free (as in last 2 photos). The band itself is well made and after 2 weeks there is minimal wear on the wholes and I feel the NATO will last for about a year if worn daily before a replacement is needed. I have never had to manually wind this watch to keep power as It is my daily driver for now but on receival of the watch I checked the manual wind and it was easy and quick. The date adjustment takes some time but after it is set you should have no issues. The bezel is very readable and does not move without a dedicated effort to do so. I have used the bezel to get a rough time span of activities and it always brings up the right time.

It was a good watch for about a year. I had swum while wearing it several times. Last time I wore in the pool, it filled with water and quit working. Certainly not what I would expect from a diving watch.

No hacking and design is moderate. It looks tough never the less

It took about 2 weeks to arrive beating the estimated delivery, can't complain about that. It's not as accurate as a quartz watch, or a high end automatic, but it's accurate enough. I'm not running a train station, so that's fine. I needed to use wire cutters to adjust the length of the band. Tip: cut the buckle end, not the watch end. It'll look better when you're done. Each section is one spiraled piece of metal, and you'll have to make 9 tiny cuts to remove each row. Be careful and take your time and it'll pay off. The lucite lens scratches easily, but it's gotta be lucite in order to get that awesome depth rating. It's engineered that way because that's just the best way to do it. Good watch. Worth every penny.

The Vostok Amphibian is probably one of the best kept secrets as far as dive watches go. They're almost always less than $100, but they punch way above their weight. I did a lot of online reading about the Amphibian, and it seems these watches just don't let water intrude. I also like that this watch can be hand wound, unlike the Seiko SKX. Overall, this probably one of two watches I own (I have around 40 total) that can be worn without ever needing to take it off.Mine is fairly accurate, and mainspring holds a decent reserve, although I have not actually measured the daily gain or power reserve. I really like the look of the domed acrylic crystal. I've never owned a cushion case watch, so this certainly doesn't look or feel like any other watch I own. The case and bezel are both chrome plated (not stainless), but I really couldn't care if it were stainless. The bracelet isn't very inspiring; the links are made from bits of stainless sheet metal that have bent. The bracelet quality could be improved, but I originally bought this because I don't have a Vostok on a bracelet. The clasp is probably the worst part, but has never come undone unexpectedly.Other than depth and pressure criteria, the watch completely falls short of the ISO 6425 dive watch criteria. The lume is completely useless, and the friction fit bidirectional bezel could pose a hazard

For $100 including shipping, this is a really funky and cool watch. Mine has been fairly accurate to within +/- 12 seconds a day. I enjoy unique things that have high value. This watch is truly better looking in person with more character and better finishing than what is illustrated in photos. It wears slightly smaller than what's advertised. I have a 7.75" wrist and it looks surprisingly small. I am just really enjoying this watch. Don't overthink it when considering this timepiece. If you like different, funky, and cool watches with a story--hard to beat this one.
