I purchased this watch on a whim. I am very pleased with the band and the watch, it doesn't say in the description; but the watch crystal is Acrylic (not a deal breaker), but i am hard on my watches. I'm careless of my arm and wrist placement... So a few times already, I have had to clean the watch due to paint marks on the "crystal". Keeps great time, looks cool, big watch face. Easy to set the date and time...

I’m a Scuba instructor and actually use this to time my dives as backup to my computer. This is a solid watch. The bezel does not click and is bi directional. But. I have not found this to be a problem. You really have to want to move it. It’s not really stiff, but it didn’t easily move. I have tried to “accidentally move it” and was not successful. I cannot honestly see how you would accidentally move it and jeopardize your dive time.Having been a diver for 30 years, I remember when these were all we had and they worked perfectly. With that in mind it’s really an excellent product.Visibility is good although date is a little small, timekeeping is excellent, just the right weight, and finish is outstanding. The fabric strap is ok. I cut the under part off so that it would sit flat and will be adding a waffle rubber strap. If you’re looking for a vintage watch that has history and will last a lifetime, this is it.Read the history of these. They’re actually more waterproof than watches 10x the price.

This is an amazing buy, simply becausenof how cool this watch is and its history. It has a threaded crown (yes its wobbly but its meant to be like that) and 200 meter water resistance, and a very nice lume. It does have hand winding but no stopping the second hand function. That can be cheated a little bit if you put just enough pressure on the crown when setting the time and then the second hand will stop. However there are 2 things wrong with the watch. The date is not quickset, and the bezel feels like an afterthought. You can spin it both ways but there isnt any resistance at all. So it you bump it or something it will move and ruin the timer. If it had a bezel that had a rachet and would actually stay in place it would be a pretty near perfect watch.

First of all disregard the uneducated negative reviews. This watch is the product of half a century of trial and error, actual experience and thought put into action. The loose crown, the bidirectional bezel, the date adjustment and the winding system all serve a purpose : a watch that is built like a submarine and that will last many years, outliving others worth thousands of dollars. Do not be fooled by its low price, there is top quality, ruggedness and beauty here as well as ideal weight and accurate time keeping. Chapeau to the Russians ! PS I have worn the Scubadude for months in all conditions and all I can say is that I have built a relationship with this watch; something I can not say about other timepieces that I own that run in the thousands. It is as precise as precise can be without a Valjoux automatic movement and keeps tightness in the deep as well as its good looks after a beating. A much appreciated design !

The watch shipped and arrived in less than a week, which was AWESOME! Opened the box and was surprised how good the dial looked. The seconds hand wasn't moving so I unscrewed the crown and started winding the watch (with crisp audible winding sound), but after a few rotations and feeling resistance, the seconds hand was still stationary.Thinking it was just a problem with the hand-winding, I performed the 'seiko shuffle' to get it wound up with the rotor, but after a few minutes shaking, the seconds hand stopped again. If I bumped the case side with my palm with moderate force, the seconds would tick for a few seconds but would quickly quit.I had educated myself as much as possible to the design quirks of these watches beforehand, but the quality control of a faulty movement is disappointing.Hopefully this is a problem with just my unit, but I will be returning it for a refund to either consider another vostok with less of a cushion case design (a bit wide for my 6.5" wrist), or for another dive watch brand with more reliable qc.

A beautiful watch. Based on lots of reviews on YouTube, I was expecting it to lose or gain 20 - 40 seconds daily. I work on a ship and I’ve been wearing it continuously for a week now, and it has just gained 13 seconds so far! The chain mesh bracelet that I bought it with required me to cut off 7 rows for my 61/2 inch wrist. This was not easy, as you have to get a good set of cutting pliers and cut it off link by link. The clasp could have been better, but I’ve got lots of guys appreciating my watch and I’m really happy with it so far!

I've worn it for a few days and the glass got scratched. This happened with 2 of the same watch

Changing the band is a must, in my opinion. But once you do that this watch is inescapably cool, fun, and good looking. The watch not only harbors a rich and interesting history for any watch aficionados to enjoy, it also features an automatic movement that goes to 200m (660 feet) for a low price. It is a joy to wear and I find myself wearing it more and more as time goes on.
