I really like that this is a dual purpose item. The back of the pendant has a pin that makes it a brooch. However, on the necklace it feels a little clunky to me. I love the look of it but don't like that it won't sit flat because of that pin on the back. It's still a beautiful item though and the necklace is thick and can handle the weight of the pendant. It looks beautiful with fall tones and attracts attention. I gave this 4 stars because it doesn't seem to lay flat and sometimes turns. I don't like pinning things to my clothing so I am using this as a pendant only.

This very beautiful beachy piece of jewelry is for any time wear this can be worn easily with casual attire, or dressy to formal evening wear. Find a pair of pearl earrings or silver-colored hoops to tie the look together. The abalone shell is really one of my favorite shells in jewelry, each one will have unique coloring and pattern like snowflakes no two will be the exact same. I wish there were matching earrings, I might have to look for something similar on a smaller scale to match but as is this works with hoops, other abalone studs, or even pearls. This can be worn as a necklace, or as a brooch pin, if you want to wear it on a collar or pocket or another way, as a multipurpose accessory. Makes a lovely gift for Christmas, Birthday, Valentine's, Mother's Day, or other special occasions like a whale watching trip. Wipe clean with a soft cloth or damp one. Only wash with mild soap and water with a soft toothbrush on an as-needed basis and dry with a soft cloth right away. This will help your jewelry stay in better shape for longer. Remove when applying bug spray, hair spray, perfume, body spray, lotions, and chemicals of similar nature, to avoid ruining the metal and the abalone. Do not wear swimming or bathing, for the same reasons. If you want this to last for years, treat it well.

Normally, I would mainly address the pendant because so often the necklaces that come with the pendants are somewhat “throw-away” type cheap necklaces - but this one is very nice! I will actually be using it and with other pieces I own. It’s substantial and adequately compliments the absolutely gorgeous pendant.Now to the pendant - WOW! So freakin’ beautiful. I love it and was very impressed with the entire set when it arrived - better than I hoped for. It’s a good substantial size that is a piece that will get noticed and definitely will garner compliments.Would be an incredible gift!!
